6 months in.. one of the best purchases ever!!

Let me start by saying that I haven't ever had the luxury of buying a new bed since I was born before this one right here, the 12" Zinus Green Tea Mattress of the Queen sized variant. I had a spring bed with a pillow topper for 15 years. I was used to it, it did the job. I knew my bed was nothing special but I knew I could do better. When I finally ready to move out, I knew it was time to get a new bed. I'm fresh out of college so I knew I wouldn't be spending $800 on a mattress. And everyone says "you spend half your life on a bed, make an investment!!" Well that was true 10 years ago. Now, we can buy vacuum sealed beds on Amazon for 10th of the price of a Tempurpedic bed. There's so many these days, I needed to do my research Why Zinus? Through my deliberations on WHICH bed in a box I would purchase, it was between this, Casper, Purple and I think some other $500+ one. I wasn't considering the Amazonbasics one because it seemed very very generic and bare for my taste. Casper and Purple have great marketing and I see the ads all the time on the subway and on the internet. Reading some reviews, I saw that they might be a bit too firm. That lead me to Amazon where I found Zinus. The bset reviews say...well, its the best. The worst reviews are people who opened them up and got covered in fiberglass. Figuring that I wasn't going to open it up, I chose this one. It looks nice, the material of the case seems comfy and the alleged "green tea" will help me sleep better. Also, the ... Read More

A very nice mattress and not much of a risk at the price

I have had this mattress close to month and I love it! This is my first memory foam mattress and I came from a much, much more expensive Sleep Number bed. I loved my Sleep Number, but it was losing air and the pump seemed to be the culprit. I checked everything I could, but I did not locate an issue and this seemed a common problem. Instead of spending a few hundred dollars on a new pump, I bought this mattress on the recommendation of a friend. I was also impressed with the number of reviews. I opened this mattress in our guest room and let it sit for a couple days. I did not find the smell strong or terrible. I expect an odor with most things and this did not seem abnormal. As far as inflating, after two days it was at 11" but I did not care it was not at the full 12". I am aware the instructions indicated, "Mattresses on average take 48 to 72 hours to decompress and sometimes in special cases up to a week to return to its original, plush shape." It may be at 12" now, but I don't care enough to measure. The first few days I slept on this mattress I thought I made a mistake. I slept terribly and was sore all over. It seemed like every muscle hurt and I had a headache. I quickly discovered I no longer needed two pillows because I was sinking into this bed a bit. This did not happen on my previous bed. I'm a side sleeper and I kept my Sleep Number quite firm so I needed two pillows to keep my neck aligned. One pillow resolved the issue, but I was still sore all over and woke... Read More

Love

I’ve had this mattress for 4 years now and I would recommend it to everyone. I have a lot of aches & pains and this mattress is amazing. I did rotate it every few months because I do feel that where I lay, it will sink a little- but honestly- for the price, I don’t mind if I have to buy a new one every few years. We recently upgraded to a larger size in a Casper, and I can say that I don’t love it as much. I’ll probably return my Casper for this mattress in the larger size

Slip & Fall Risk, Green Tea odor?, better than Casper?

I purchased the 12" Green Tea Mattress. If you are hypersensitive to smell, you might not like this mattress. The suggestion to let it expand and air out for 72 hours is essential. Still, after a week . . . if I bury my nose in the mattress I still detect a slight chemical odor. Doesn't bother me at all but there's no trace of the promised Green Tea aroma. My dad has a Casper mattress and I was curious how my Zinus would compare. To put it simply, I can't tell the difference in comfort or support. So why do people pay 4 times more for Casper and what do you get? Casper has a furniture grade, extremely strong and durable cover. Zinus has a very light cotton-like cover . . . kind of like the thickness and fabric you'd find in a t-shirt. I would not expect it to hold up for years without tearing or fraying and exposing the foam. I corrected for this with two fixes (1) a zippered mattress enclosure  LINENSPA Zippered Encasement Waterproof, Dust Mite Proof, Bed Bug Proof, Hypoallergenic Breathable Mattress Protector - Queen Size  and (2) a substantial mattress pad  The Grand Fitted Quilted Mattress Pad Cover Hypoallergenic (Stretches to 18" Deep - Queen - 60x80") Queen Size Mattress Protector . I'm confident that the combination will give me the longevity of the higher priced mattress units like Casper. They say the 12" is softer (less firm) than the 6" or 10". I like firm and find my 12" as firm as my prior Sealy's PosturePedic extra-firm mattress! This is no marshmellow mattre... Read More

don't hesitate, it's truly a fantastic bargain

Needed to replace an old Sleep Number that was atrocious but times are difficult. Had been looking at all of the online memory foam offerings like Purple, Casper and Leesa etc. I came across this one when comparing on mattress review websites. After reading those and the Amazon reviews I figured at worse it can't be as bad as that old Sleep Number and I can address it in a year. Around 5 years ago my ex-wife and I bought one from Sealy or Serta (can't remember) and it cost somewhere around $2000. She kept it so hence my need after moving in with my gf. That mattress I was very happy with but it took 2-3 days to completely soft as it was delivered at around 10 degrees F that day. After that it was bliss and was a great mattress for the few years I used it. Having that comparison to work with I can say that this Zinus is an absolute steal. This mattress compares very favorably to that one at a fraction of the money. It offers the same support with a slightly less plush top layer. It's been 6 days and I'm waking better rested and she is having less issues (she has RA) so it's helped her a great deal. I wouldn't stay in bed on weekend mornings due to hurting when I wake up...I stayed in bed this morning. I may lay my 3" memory foam topper on it as well, but right now I don't find it necessary. Will it last a long time, I don't know. But even if I got a few years out of it I can't complain due to the price ($349 CA King) and if I get more than 5 out of it I'll be extremely impr... Love love love this mattress! Better than Casper (seriously)

Do not believe the hate! This mattress is great! I’ll update my review from time to time until the thing finally gives out (still good at a year and a half) Update December 18 2017: Still going strong! I haven’t had a single issue with this bed since I got it. Still no sunken spots or degradation of the material. If you are looking at this or a Casper. Just pull the trigger on this, it’s absolutely worth it! Update June 16 2017: After a year, the mattress is exactly as comfortable as it was when we got it! I've gotten several family members to purchase one of their own. This is on our main bed and gets slept on every single night. There are no dips in the mattress and as far as I can tell there is no degradation in the condition of the mattress at all. If you are on the fence, take it from a long(ish) time owner, for the price you can't get any better. (I updated my review from 4 to 5 stars because of how well the bed holds up) One note, there is justified complaints about the edge of the bed being mushy. This is true, but it took less than a week for us to adjust the way we sat on the bed, and we haven't had any problems in most of the last year. If that is a problem for you, trust me, you'll get used to it very quickly. Update: 6 weeks in, this mattress is still fantastic! Easily the most comfortable mattress in the price. My wife and I weigh a combined 320-330lbs and the mattress holds up just fine. There are no dips and it springs back to original shape as soon as I g... Read More

Great for the price - some aesthetic issues.

This is my second Zinus purchase. I purchased this after a 5 star experience with my  Zinus Memory Foam 12 Inch / Premium / Cloud-like Mattress, Queen  purchased last February. I wish I could say the same for this mattress. I've had the Green Tea Mattress for a week now, and it has not "inflated" to the full twelve inches yet, and some of the corners are just deformed. I'll have to add some pics later. However, I have been sleeping on it, and I find it to be quite comfortable. I just wish it looked better. Here's the problem for Zinus and Amazon to address, and why so many people are angry when the mattress is deformed: we feel cheated when we get only a 10 inch mattress when we paid for a 12 inch mattress. The fitted sheet doesn't fit right. The mattress does not look attractive when the quilt is pulled back. The aesthetics are all wrong. It's disappointing. Let's talk about the smell. It's strong at first, but does fade slowly. Very slowly. I've had the Premium version for 10 months and I can still pick up a little bit of the odor when I walk into the room. I expect the same from the Green Tea (this) version. It's something I can live with, and have had no complaints from guests (family that will speak up). Do I regret my purchase? No. Here's why? - I spent $179 for a queen size memory foam mattress. Not $1000+ for a Casper or Lisa or $3000+ for a Tempurpedic - The mattress is comfortable - firmer than described. I would say it's firmer than the Premium/Cloud version. ... Read More

Apprehensive at First, Pleased So Far!

I recently moved a few states away for work and did not have the finances to move all of my stuff with me - unfortunately that meant sleeping on an air mattress for awhile until I saved up enough to buy a new bed. At first I was looking at Casper. A friend had purchased one and told me I couldn’t go wrong there but...a Queen sized mattress and foundation from them costs close to $1000 - not an amount I was eager to drop all at once. Eventually after a month and a half the air mattress started to deflat on its own and I needed to pull the trigger on something...Casper was still looking a little pricey so I looked elsewhere - enter Zinus. The fact that a queen sized mattress and frame from Zinus cost half as much as Casper made me wary at first. “What’s wrong with it?”, “what about it is not as good as Casper?”, “am I taking a risk going with Zinus instead?” were questions I pondered but I eventually had no choice and rolled the dice... I’ve been sleeping on this mattress now for about a month and I’m more than satisfied!!! It arrived after only a few days, “inflated” to its ideal shape within 24 hours, and the typical smell dissipated after another 12 hours. As far as comfort goes, I’d say this mattress is firm but soft, which is ideal for me, and comfy whether you sleep on your side, stomach, or back. The mattress and frame associated with it also hold up well with no issues for my size (5’10, 240 lbs), and the mattress doesn’t slide around on the frame. Very happy thu... Read More
