Excellent Vacuum Without Breaking The Bank!

I have had this vacuum for about 6 months. The first time I used it was in my old apartment that had not been cleaned for at least 1-1/2 years by a carpet cleaning crew before I moved in. I vacuumed using a $50 vacuum that had a bag and rolled along behind the hose. I thought my carpets were mostly clean because I used the $50 vacuum to vacuum once every week or other week and picked up a good amount of dust and hair each time (about half a bag). This Hoover WindTunnel Air Steerable made me realize just how disgusting the carpet actually was and how useless the $50 vacuum was too. I filled up and emptied the Hoover canister at least ten times for only 700 square feet of carpet! It was fine dust, dirt, and a lot more human and pet hair (that didn't belong to my little dog) that I vacuumed up right after using the other vacuum. The other $50 vacuum I had was sent to goodwill. After seeing the performance of the Hoover, I will never go "cheap" on a vacuum again. I then had a professional carpet cleaning company come in and clean the carpets. There was dirt embedded in the high traffic areas of the carpets that anyone could see that the hoover could not pick up. Only a good professional shampoo and steam cleaner could get it out. However, the carpet guy only removed about a small coffee can size worth of hair and other large particles after he cleaned. The hoover removed almost all of it before he showed up. I vacuumed again about three days after the professional left and fille... Read More

OMG love it love it love it...

We have or had a dirt devil...loud and heavy, with a bag, and for years thought it was doing the job. But I kept telling my husband that insulation was being blown out the overhead vents each time the air or heat came on, it was of that consistency and color. That is what I dusted off the furniture and blinds and vents on my pc for years. Doing all I can to reduce allergens due to serious sinus disease, I was going to start with a new vacuum in case the dirt devil was not really doing the job. The dirt devil machine is old but not near as old as the carpet. The kids and their friends and pets grew up on this carpet. The last leaving over 5 years ago....Yes that old! Its one of those things you say, "when they go off to college...we will"...and then don't. I read the reviews on this Hoover WindTunnel...thought about a Dyson but way too much for two rooms of carpet, two bedrooms. The only knowledge I had in buying a vacuum was I didn't want a bag cleaner ever again. They stink unless they are changed each time. No one does that anymore if they ever did...full of God only knows what living in those things in your darken closet. Sort of like that commercial for sinus meds...all those green mucas things having a party in the dark and no one aware. My vacuum bag a party magnet! One person who reviewed this said something about vacuum your rooms prior to this new one. My husband did that the day before this was to arrive and with put a new bag in the dirt devil upright. Off he went t... Read More

Finally, I found it!

I can't begin to tell you how amazed I am that I FINALLY found a vacumn that is so perfect. It scares me to write this because I'm afraid I might jinx myself and the vac will break down. My main objective in my search for a vac was good suction, reasonable price, and light weight. I finally smartened up and read all the reviews objectively. I also decided that going with Amazon gave me that added protection if I bought another lemon. The suction on this little bugger is incredible. I couldn't believe I had all that dirt built up over the years from using inferior vacs. I thought it was going to suck the color out of the rug. The price on this little super bugger was great. I paid $159.00, free shipping thru Amazon Prime. This Hoover's reviews were comparable to Dyson without the big ticket price. It really goes against my grain to pay big money for this type of item but my frugality (cheapness) has mostly given me inferior products. I'm hoping the vac God keeps shining her light on me. The weight is light so I don't have to rest after I pushing around a heavy vac. My husband is happy because I'm not calling him to carry it up the stairs. The added bonuses I did not think about in my search for a vac was a pleasant surprise. I can now vac between small spaces without stopping to move stuff, the steerable feature ends the struggle to turn into areas that I would usually have to finagle the vac back and forth before I finally had it in place to get the nasty pet hair or whatever... This vacuum really sucks

It sucks up everything! Our household contains 2 (messy) toddlers, 2 (shedding) cats and a dog that likes to re-locate puppy chow all over the house. We have laminate and tile floors with some area rugs. I previously had a Shark Vac & Steam, which was great until it stopped working, just a month after the warranty expired. I did a lot of research on what kind of vacuum could handle the amount of daily yuck on our floors without bankrupting us, and decided the Hoover Air Steerable was the best option. PROS: *The amount of stuff this thing sucks off my floors and rugs is DISGUSTING. Seriously, how did that much dirt hide on our floors?? *It's soooooo lightweight!! I love this! Maybe too lightweight....My 2 year old is able to move it around with ease...Guess I can teach her to vacuum at an early age! *The dirt cup empties from the bottom with the touch of a button. I've always hated canister vacuums because emptying the canister released all the dirt I just sucked up. Not with this baby...Put the canister over the trash bin and release. I have noticed that if there is a lot of hair in there you may have to shake it a little to get it all out. *Brush roll On-Off is genius! I can finally use one vacuum for both my hard floors and my area rugs. Yay! *Nice long cord *Washable filters. One less thing to buy...but you do have to remember to maintain them. *It's so quiet! Not so quiet that I'd run it during naptime, but quiet enough that it doesn't send the animals into crazy fits ev... Read More

I rate it 4 stars because 5 means something is absolutely the best of its kind and about as perfect in all ...

Let me preface by saying that 4 stars is nothing to scoff at. I rate it 4 stars because 5 means something is absolutely the best of its kind and about as perfect in all categories as current technology will allow. So that being said, lets get to it. I have had this vacuum for about a month I think and I will be honest, I love it. The bottom line here is it is not the best ever, but it is very good. I have never used a Dyson, which from what I understand considers itself the Apple of its industry (entitled with a superiority complex) so I cannot profess to know the differences here. What I can say is this wonderfully light little Hoover will offer you the following: -Power; it cleans really well both carpeting and wood/vinyl. I have thick carpet upstairs and wood downstairs and use it on both. Its wonderful and a bit unnerving to see what it pulls from a seemingly clean carpet. The hose offers great suction as well so no worries there. -Convenience; It is light and thinly profiled. Easy to carry means that you can quickly get it where it needs to be to pick up those messes that come out of nowhere. It also steers which you may not think now, but is terribly great. Moreover, it steers well. It also has a great reach on the hose. It has a toggle for the brush roller as well so you can get that good scrub on the carpets and just suction on the hard surfaces. You do not have to toggle the height for different floors, something about auto doing it, take that as you will though.... Read More

A 21st century machine for a 20th century buyer

Just got this vacuum today and wanted to share my first impressions. I am 49 and have been using the standard upright my whole life; my last vacuum was a Bissell that did a great job but died after just 3 years. I can afford a Dyson, but hubs and I couldn't fathom paying $500 for a vacuum cleaner. I mean, come on. That's absurd. This one was on sale for $98 and the way I see it, I can replace this one numerous times and still come out cheaper than a Dyson. So here are my thoughts: If you're used to old-school vacuums, this will seem very state-of-the-art and maybe a little scary. But it couldn't be easier to use and you will quickly catch on. The biggest difference is the way it feels to maneuver the machine. I imagine it will become second nature in no time, but you definitely lose that stiffness you get in the typical upright. Along with that, you are able to get under furniture, along the toe kicks in your kitchen, and extremely close to baseboards and table legs. It definitely picked up in these tight spaces my old vacuum could never reach. The hose attachment is easy to use, and it comes with only one tool that embeds a brush and a crevice tool. It's a clever design and takes up no space on the vacuum. I used this for cobwebs in the upper baseboards and my cushions, to pick up dog hair. It did a great job with lots of suction. You can't adjust the height, but a handy button allows you to turn the brush roller on and off. My house is primarily tile and hardwood, with s... Read More

Very good

Let me start by saying we have 2 (big) dogs, and 8 cats, all of whom shed like it's going out of style. The dogs also enjoy bringing the outdoors in, so there are mud prints, sand traps, and assorted yard debris scattered throughout. We own 3 Dysons, one from the early days, 1 about middlin, and "the ball" that is about 2 years old, and had previously been Hoover people. We love the cleaning power of the Dysons, which is, of course, why we have 3. We are not, however, impressed with their durability, as they each have had their issues with plastic bits breaking off and parts not staying on securely anymore. My mother's favorite, "the ball", has an issue with broken parts that we've fixed a couple of times and now whatever's wrong with it, we just can't be bothered with. She has now been using the older Dyson, and misses the lighter weight and steerability of "the ball". I personally hated it because the head seemed to go all willy nilly, but that's really neither here nor there. So, we've been checking out new vacuums, but just can't see spending the money on yet another Dyson. I came across this Hoover on sale, and after researching it and other brands, it seemed like a good deal, especially at just under $100. We just received it today and used it to vacuum the whole house. Following are the first impressions. The good: Excellent suction, definitely comparable to the Dysons. Finds and retrieves EVERY cat toy EVERYWHERE. VERY lightweight, much more so than our latest Dyson.... Read More

Lightweight, powerful, maneuverable

I purchased this Hoover to replace a Kenmore canister that was difficult to maneuver around my small condo. I was tired of dealing with its stiff, heavy hose and tripping over the motor unit whenever I needed to back up. I was hoping that a small upright would be the answer. I read lots of reviews. Thanks, Amazon. After a few uses, I'm pleased with this vac. It has plenty of suction power, and I can work it around and under furniture as easily as the power head of the old canister. The steerable feature really works-- at least when I remember to twist the handle and use it. It goes from hardwood to area rugs to carpet with no problems and no need to make height adjustments. It seems to do a good job on each. First time out, it pulled a heaping cup of loose fibers out of a wool Karastan area rug that my old vac had missed. Above the floor, there is mostly good news and some bad news. The good news includes a long, flexible hose, plenty of suction, and a lightweight handle that can be used with or without the included extension tube. The bad news is a skimpy brush tool and a cumbersome process to switch from "floor mode" to "hose mode". To do that, you remove the lower end of the hose from its storage position, open a spring-loaded door, and plug it in. This diverts the suction to the hose. It's no big thing, but a simple diverter valve would be worth the added cost. I think reviewers commenting on poor suction left the hose plugged in and went back to vacuuming floors. This ... Back to Hoover

I mostly hate vacuum cleaners. Better than a broom and dust pan, of course, but I've never found a machine that I liked enough to compel regular use. Vacuuming is drudgery and I put off engaging in drudgery for as long as possible. We've purchased a variety of machines over the years to clean our carpet-free floors -- bagless, cordless, canister and upright. They all bring their own level of drudgery. The canisters have to be dragged around. Or carried! The bagless require intimate contact with the accumulated muck. The cordless don't have any power. I hate them all. This machine doesn't completely remove the drudgery, but it does the best job we've come across at a reasonable cost. Our biggest floor problem comes from dog ownership. One short-haired mutt, much shedding. Our window sills could use more regular help. The cobwebs in the corners might not become so interesting if we took an interest. This Hoover helps with all of those issues quite simply and in a way that lightweight machines can't and other full-size machines don't. Snip, snap, you're ready to go from floor cleaning to upholstery cleaning. You know why that didn't happen in our former machines? Because the myriad attachments were never where we needed them to be as they'd become broken or lost. This machine has one useful attachment, snuggled securely in its place and ready to work. Excellent suction. Superb maneuverability. The dirt bin is the most easily emptied of any bagless machine we've used (althoug... Read More
