A Winter Miracle 4 Dry Skin (from Face 2 Feet)

I power through California summers, by focusing on the upcoming winter, and how much I’ll appreciate every rainy day, the scent of petrichor, every cozy night in, the absence of mosquitoes, and being forced to wear clothes so drenched in sweat, you could literally wring them out at the end of the day… 🥵 The only thing I DON’T appreciate is how itchy, flakey and dry my skin is throughout my favorite season. Combined with battling cystic pimples every month with AHA’s, BHA’s, Tretinoin, my skin is practically snowing! 😩 ENTER WELEDA SKIN FOOD; a MIRACLE for dry, itchy, flaky skin. Why trust my review? Well, I’ve tried a lot of heavy thick creams in attempt to quench my extremely parched skin; CeraVe w/ Hyaluronic Acid, Nivea, First Aid Ultra Repair, even La Mer — none were nearly as effective or worked half as long as WELEDA SKIN FOOD. But my skin isn’t just dry, it’s also sensitive, prone to blackheads, cystic pimples, dark spots, and at 39, (going on 25 😉), it also struggles to turn over on its own, which easily leads to congestion, especially on my face. To prevent pimples that will inevitably leave scars and dark spots, I have to continue using Tretinoin and other chemical exfoliants during the wintertime, and trust me —IT SHEDS to an unsightly and embarrassing degree, but I’ve found a significant amount of relief from WELEDA. It not only keeps my skin hydrated for several hours, but it significantly minimizes the appearance of flaking skin and leaves it glowing and dewy... Read More

Surprisingly great product

My friend told me this was a La Mer dupe. I have been buying that product for years and was skeptical she was being honest, I frankly thought she was only telling herself this was a dope. I eventually gave in, wow this cream is Thiccc. Honestly too thicc, but I love it! Once on it feel like you put vasilene on your face, I was convinced I would wake up as a giant pimple. Alas, it was fine and it has never once broken me out. I have now swapped my 12 step korean skin care and expensive french cream for this.

Amazing Results

This cream is amazing. I am in my mid-forties and find my skin is on the dryer side these last few years and sensitive to products. I use this as an evening face moisturizer, and when I wake up in the morning my face is hydrated and soft. I have not had any breakouts. I use La Mer during the day and this actually does more to hydrate my skin than Later Mer does, and it is inexpensive to boot! It is too slick to use under makeup, but if you aren't wearing makeup it will give you a dewy fresh appearance during the day. As another reviewer said, it smells like gin, but I love gin so that's a plus in my book!

Better Results Than La Mer!

I've used Skin Food for two years now. After suffering with acne and just generally not lovely skin since my early teens (I'm 31), I've tried what feels like every possible moisturizer on the planet trying to find what works for my skin. My skin's gone from oily to dry to combination in the span of a week so it was hard to find something that was really hydrating but didn't cause breakouts or texture problems. I love Skin Food and use it as my exclusive moisturizer. I was skeptical at first because it doesn't label itself as a facial moisturizer and it seemed so thick but it's been amazing. I used to use La Mer as my primary moisturizer and stopped it in favor of Skin Food. That's how good it is! I have sensitive skin and it calms everything down quickly. In the morning I mix my SPF with it. At night, I use my eye cream then layer on Skin Food. Simple routine but great results. I get frequent compliments now that I have "lovely, glowing skin" which is a first in my life.

Heals dry facial skin quick!

I got this because I needed an extremely intensively hydrating night cream. I was previously using La Mer samples but ran out of them and don’t have enough money to be buying $200 face cream. So I of course googled “la mer dupe” and this came up a few times so I decided to give it a go. First of all, this is much more moisturizing than la mer. It is great for extremely dry, flaking skin. Its the middle of winter and I use tretinoin (retanoid) every day so this is exactly what I needed. If you sleep in this you will wake up with flake free, glowing skin. My face is also extremely sensitive and maybe I got lucky but it causes me no problem. This is an extremely thick waxy and greasy cream. It would only work as a night face cream or perhaps for a spot treatment on the body. It wouldn’t work well at all as a day cream. You need to sleep with it on the face to let it absorb. Lastly, some have commented on the smell. I don’t find it offensive at all. It’s more of an herbal smell, but since it’s all natural it really fades quickly. If you’re suffering from dry flaking skin on your face- like the kind where you can’t wear powder because it makes the flakes look even worse- definitely give it a go!

Great for My extremely sensitive skin

I have adult acne, rosacea, and flares of peri-oral dermatitis. For years, I have been unable to do much for my skin aside from a prescription wash and anti-inflammatory cream. I could not use sunscreen, or any type of moisturizer on my dry skin (including vanicream or aquaphore) for fear of a peri-oral break out. I saw a review of this product, comparing it to La Mer, and decided to give it a try because of its cheap price. I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID. For the first time in years, I can use a moisturizer on my face, helping my rosacea and acne but at the same time not irritating the peri oral. The smell is strong, so I was really worried that I would flare up, but did not. I cannot recommend this product enough.

Creme de La Mer Dupe- Buy This!

This is just as moisturizing and thick as Creme de la Mer! At a fraction of the cost, I can ignore the strong herbal scent. It's a really heavy smell! This has great staying power and feels so good under makeup so it's perfect for days. Then it's thick enough for nights and isn't gone by morning. It makes my skin feel so soft. I will use this forever.

Great for dry chapped winter skin

Very thick very hydrating lotion. The scent is very citrusy and pretty. I suppose if you aren’t an orange & lemon fan this scent may be heavy for you. I don’t find that the scent lingers though which is fine by me. I put this on my face, my hands, elbows, knees, feet. Wherever you have really dry skin. A small dab is all you need which makes the small sizing feel better in the wallet! I’ve seen this compared to La Mer products and that’s what told me to buy it!

Great skincare -- so softening and lasting

I purchased this Weleda product when I read on a blog that it was a less expensive alternative to La Mer creme. It has not disappointed. The tube is small, but for less that $10 (using Subscribe and Save) it's worth every penny. It has a thicker consistency - kinda lore like a skin balm, but it does the trick. I was a bit weirded out when I open the cap and there was a bit of oily residue on the top of the cream. But once I tissued that off, the moisturizer is amazing! Will probably try their other products now to see what other gems they have in their skincare line.

Best For Intensive Overnight Cream- See my full review

First off, I don’t know what to think about this product. It’s more of an “experience” than a moisturizer. I went online and was looking for comparable products to Creme de La Mer. Someone’s blog recommended this as the number 2 dupe. I spent quite some time just trying to figure out what it is, or does. After my first application, my dog sniffed me for about two hours. Clearly we were both intrigued and trying to figure this out. Good? Bad? I don’t know. You decide. I’ll post what I liked and didn’t like. 1.) The Smell-has a strong smell of mineral oils with a slight residual beeswax smell and some other undertones which I can’t figure out. Overall I would say the smell is oily or medicine-y (making up words LOL). If you are sensitive to smells at all, this is not a good product for you. You’re not going to put this on and feel fresh and smell pretty. Consider this more like a therapeutic treatment. The good thing, there’s no added artificial fragrance. You are really smelling the natural ingredients, strong as they are. 2.) It’s oily/greasy. The first little bit that came out of the tube had A lot more oil around it then did the rest of the contents of the tube. Do not let this freak you out. I imagine some of the oil floats to the top of each tube. When you initially rub the product in, it is shiny and greasy from the natural oils. If you continue to rub through this, you will then get to a texture that feels soft and has somewhat of a beeswax feel. This is where we tal... Read More
