Excellen quality shoe. I do not and have not bought any other brand for years now.

If you are a skinny minnie, you can probably get by with a variety of shoes. If you are a big guy like me though, you wear one pair of shoes a lot, and your shoes take a beating, these are the ones for you without recommendation to any others. First of all, there is one single flaw to these: the laces. I don't know why but the laces they have chosen to put on these shoes from V1 to now V4, tend to break near where they wrap back to tie them and sometimes rather quickly. They have a hard plastic insert in the leather as extra support there and it seems to end up cutting the outer cord with at least some of the laces sometimes. That is about my only complaint on these shoes. Now, the good. The overall leather of the shoe just doesn't break down nor the fabric parts of it. In fact, the soles wear out before the rest of the shoe does. The soles are adhered to the rest of the shoe very well and never come off. I have no issues with the toes or sides opening up (and I use a double-wide shoe). They are very comfortable, light and provide good support. I would say under heavy daily use of these with a big dude - you will go through a pair in about 6-8 months. Light use on a big guy you will probably get 10-16 months out of these. A skinny guy with light use daily could easily get 18-24 months out of these I think. I have tried other brands and about the only other two that come kind of close in quality are Rockport and Nike. Rockports have pretty good quality all around but they ... Read More

New Balance MX608v4 Training Shoes, Excellent Athletic Shoes for a Reasonable Price

Wonderful walking shoe that features great comfort combined with tremendous durability. I bought 2 pairs, 1 white and 1 black and have been wearing them continuously for over a month as almost only shoes that I use. The results are stellar because they still look good with minimal wiping at night plus very little wear on soles of shoes compared to the Asics similar model that I bought 2 pairs before these that were pretty much worn out after 3 months. For me I am convinced that New Balanced is the way to go to get excellent fit, terrific durability and overall great performance in athletic shoes. I like the way the comparable Nike and Adidas shoes look, but my feet are wide. With them, I find that if I buy their wide size then heel area is too big and if I by the regular D width, the toe area is too narrow. Asics, New Balance, Puma and Reebok trainers all fit me fine in wide width size. but only New Balance seems to have figured out the proper shoe sole compound for comfort combined with extraordinary durability,

Save $10. NB makes most of its shoe in the US

It is my understanding that New Balance make most of its shoe in the United States, unlike its competitors, Nike for example, that produce them in foreign countries.. I believe that it is better to keep US citizens employed and paying taxes. It is a false economy to pay less for a foreign made shoe, because that means that a US citizen loses their job. Then we have to support that person and their family with unemployment payments and sometime welfare and Medicaid.

Fine Shoes

I love New Balance shoes. I wore them for years until my girlfriend started buying me Nike's. I was grateful but the Nike's were terrible. They were always making noise and the sole fell off of one pair. These New Balance shoes look slightly different than the ones I used to buy (they don't make that model anymore). These shoes feel great on my feet. They seem well made and they don't make noise! I haven't really had them long enough to do a proper review but since amazon asked... I do recommend New Balance shoes based on my experience.

Try it, you'll like it!

Best fit ordered on line to date. Superior to Nike, which was a bit stiff and tight even though published sizes were identical. Very comfortable and easy to put on. Limited wearing time till now, so cannot comment on longer term wear and comfort, but out of the box I am very pleased. Certainly meets comments and input from third parties ignored until now due to Nike fixation..

Comfortable

Finally found a better Sneaker. Used to wear NIKE, No more as they were very uncomfortable. These sneakers are far more superior. I added the "Timberland" Arc supports for additional comfort. very happy with the fit, form and function.

Outstanding fit and comfort

I've been wearing this New Balance training shoe for years, in white/navy and black. It is the only shoe of it's type I've found that fits me perfectly and is amazingly comfortable. I've tried similar Nike and Adidas shoes but they simply can't match the overall comfort. It's all in the arch design and cushioning. The 4E width is perfect for my feet. Thanks New Balance!

Good price. BUT, not enough padding and no arch support.

Not a bad shoe. But not great either. This shoe is very similar in appearance to the Nike Air Monarch IV Black. I compared these 2 shoes by wearing the Nike one day and the New Balance MS608v4 the next day. Nike wins hands down!! This shoe doesn't have as much padding as the Nike. It has zero arch support - nada, flat as Kansas. My toes feel better in the Nike toe box but that may be a personal preference. Everyone's toes are different. So...this shoe is OK for $45 but I much preferred the Nike Air Monarch IV and don't mind paying $65 for them.

Great value & good looks.

This is my 2nd pair of this shoe. I used to wear the Nike Air but got tired of the relentless squeaking. I purchased these for the looks and quickly found out I needed extra support - although they may feel great for you as is. I added some Red Wing insoles and they quickly became my all-around favorite shoe. They match any clothing I wear and can even be passed off a dress shoes in a pinch, yet provide the all day comfort of sneakers. Plus, no squeaking!
