Didn't Know That I Needed This, Until I Installed It

I have a 65" Sony 850E, not the best, but middle of the pack for LED TVs. I was considering updating it as it is 3 years old and the newer TV ar a bit sharper and have new technology that upscales the picture a bit better. However after reading some reviews and watching a few YouTubes on improving your home viewing experience, the one thing that was touched on over and over was the reduction of eye strain when viewing a bright TV in a dark room. Digging further into the subject, most 'Experts' recommended using TV Backlights. Looking a bit more I found that there were a lot of choices out there, ranging from around $10 - $300+. After cutting through the price vs. performance of various products, it seemed to me that the static lights that either were just a single color or you had to use a remote or app to change the colors did not relieve the eye strain as well as active lights. Active lights are different because they use input from either the HDMI port or an external source, such as a camera to 'synch' the lights response to the active picture being shown on the screen. Philips Hue is a very good system that uses a HDMI hub to capture the incoming digital information to ensure that the light reacted quickly and smoothly to whatever was on screen. This option while fast and almost decorative, can be expensive as all parts, the lights and the hub are sold separately, the upside is that all Hue products can be synchronized to work together, meaning that your Hue light bulbs c... Just Buy It!!!!

I am super happy with my purchase!!! The lights look so good if you calibrate them correctly, to the point where I wouldn’t think of buying a Philips brand for my next TV… I am still in shock when I play games or watch TV… A must buy guys and girls!!!

Amazing

I spent weeks deciding on which ones to get. I absolutely love these lights. They work so well that 3 friends have come over and bought them as well. Great lights for a fraction of Philips hue.

Worth It!

After days of reviewing Philips hue and this product I went for this. Worth it! If you have enough money then Philips hue. I read a review on this about the calibration sticker and I was cautious that I just lightly placed it on the screen. And took it off side ways.go for it, no doubt

Mainly action films

This product was so amazing I bought another. I used this for a 55 inch first. The installation was super smooth. For a 55 inch the led strip was fit perfect, it's in sections so you don't have to bend the Led strip. Super smooth for eliminating any dead spots. I threw my manual in the trash and went with my gut during installation. It was able to install 99% of it with out using the manual. The only issue i had was finding the product in the goovee home app. Referring to the manual for that I found you must search for the H1999 device. After that everything was perfect. While calibrating I it was tricky selecting wither it was counter clock wise or clockwise I installed the led strips. For regular sitcoms, I would rather use one stable color. For action scenes or movies I 100% would put it on video mode. Star wars is a great example of when to use the video mode. Explosions on screen are fantastic when it shows the color lighting. It has a very minimal lag, because it is watching the screen then sending the signal. But it maybe a a fraction of a second. It still projects what's on screen when it needs to. It's amazing how far technology has come! I plan to set this second one up on a cg1 oled 65 inch. Movie experience will be better than a movie theater. The adhesion is fantastic, the only draw back is its difficult to detach the controller once attached with adhesion. The calibration squares are sturdy enough to attach and not fall off, but simple to remove once calib... Read More

Extremely Immersive. Didn't realize how necessary these are.

Absolutely obsessed with these LEDs. the only complain I have is now tv without them is too boring lol. I have been obsessed with the Philips hue for a while now and have been saving up to get them (sync box and all). I was watching Philips hue tick tock videos of someone showing how they react to different scenes and one of the comments happened to mention Govee. I did a quick YouTube search to see reviews because they seemed too way to good to be true. Once I saw how amazing they were I instantly ordered and have been obsessed since. I was about to spend hundreds of dollars on the Philips hue when it doesn't even have a bottom strip yet instead I spend $70. Mind blowing. Now calibration is everything. I set mine up on my media center a little out from the TV. I find it picks up reds better set up like this. I also had some 3M tape lying around so I made a little prop pad for it to face it towards the TV a little more. now don't let this discourage you because you do not have to do this. I just didn't mind it and honestly kind of enjoyed messing around with tech. for those of you who don't want to stick the orange foam to your TV (it is very very sticky) just use the YouTube calibration video. that's what I use. I find it easier because the squares are a little bit bigger so I make sure I put the center dot right in the middle of the Red square. extremely easy to set up, extremely easy calibration. Id definitely say don't take off the main 3M pad right away. I just took of... Read More

Better and Cheaper than Philips Hue

Great product. Simple to setup and took me about 40 minutes working by myself to have everything up and running. The reason I say it's better than the Philips Hue Sync box tv lights is because you don't have to worry about HDMI 2.x version compatibility, since the colors are being generated via a small camera that is viewing your screen.

Important installation tip!!

I have been an avid fan of the Philips Hue systems for several years. I had bought these during a Prime Day deal as it has always interested me to install the Hue LED strip with the HMDI box (which costs over $200) to make them responsive to the TV picture. When I stumbled upon these, it was too good of a deal to pass on. I read and followed all of the instructions and quickly got them on the TV. Turned them on and they were doing something... but it wasn't right. My sister pointed out it was almost as if the lights were "upside down" from the picture. I double checked the installation and there's NO mention of what corner to start in, or direction to follow. During camera calibration it simply asks if you went clockwise or counterclockwise... that's after you already have everything stuck to the TV! THIS IS NOT IN THE INSTRUCTIONS BUT CRITICAL!! If you are installing, try to follow this diagram... (picture screenshot during camera calibration) Clockwise installation: On the back of the TV, start in the bottom left corner of the TV (bottom right when looking at the face) and go up. Counterclockwise installation: Start in the bottom right corner of the TV (bottom left when looking at the face) and go up. The camera can mount on top or bottom, you decide. Only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because I had to peel these all off and reinstall... otherwise the functionality has been great!

The idea is there/ but could be improved

As so many others have stated. These lights are great for the price. The concept of immersive lighting is relatively new and GOVEE has done a great job designing a product that in my opinion is on a higher level than Philips Hue Sync. Given I am not made of money and I believe that the Philips line is overpriced....I opted for GOVEE and I am impressed. My setup: 65" TCL 4K. Pro's: -Instillation was a breeze... (from the instructions to the adhesive backing, I had no issues installing) -App/Interface (OUTSTANDING, easy to use and work through, easy to navigate and recalibrate at any time) -Vibrant and Vivid color representation (These lights will throw some crazy colors and does a great job of throwing vibrant colors) Con's: -White Light (My main dislike....White light on screen has the tendency to show up as a sort of blue. I was a little let down by this but it it something I have gotten used to) - Camera positioning (A small con...but to me if the camera had a little more of a wide angle/stuck further out, I feel like it would pick up colors more easily) Overall, I am impressed! Nothing compares at this price point and I have these lights on every time the TV is on! I would absolutely recommend theses to anyone who wants near flawless immersion lighting! TIP!!! If you are installing these on a smart TV- pull up youtube and search for GOVEE IMMERSION calibration...No need to stick those cubes on your TV. Hope this helps!
