Reviews for OXO Good Grips Glass 1.6 Qt Loaf Baking Dish

People say Oxo is really similar to Pyrex.

Now my go to baking dish

The size works for many applications. It's deep & wide enough for a roast, 4 sprawling chicken breasts, a standard brownie batch or baked ziti/mac&cheese. Glass means no BPA or PFAS. Transparent glass lets me prevent the banana bread from overcooking! The cover is super useful. Not only does it facilitate transport and storage, but it also foils our bad kitty who tends to grab morsels from pans left in the kitchen after plating. It is easier to wash than our old white Pyrex baking dish of the same shape. The lips make it easy to move in and out of the oven safely. I rated it 4/5 on sturdiness b/c it is glass, after all. Overall: 5/5.

Love this baking dish

- It's made of borosilicate glass (which is what Pyrex used to use) so I'm able to move it from the fridge to the oven without it breaking - the lid gives a really nice tight seal to protect food in the fridge (a little hard to remove, but there's a tab in one corner that helps to lift the lid off)

won't explode

I had a Pyrex or Anchor glass baking dish explode on me. I was preparing a panzanella, so the dish was not even hot from the oven when it happened. I placed the dish on a wet surface, and it shattered -- not into big shards, but into tiny pebbles like safety glass does! Luckily, I wear glasses or I might have taken glass to my eye. That's when I found out that both Pyrex and Anchor have switched to cheaper soda-lime glass, and that hundreds -- yes, hundreds! -- of their casseroles and baking dishes explode every year. Oxo still makes its baking ware out of borosilicate glass, which is MUCH more resistant to changes in temperature. I switched to Oxo; you should, too.

Quality baking dish at a reasonable price

Bought this after I lost my last Pyrex because I could get it quickly and for less $$$. Cleans well and seems to be great quality so far. One thing I am not the hugest fan of is that the handles on the sides are very low profile and not as easy to grab as the Pyrex. Also the lid on this is rigid, not like the Pyrex with the lid that flexes. Little harder to get on and off but that's ok. I like that it doesn't seem to warp in the dishwasher like the flex lids sometimes do.

Well made pan. Borosilicate (Pyrex) glass is a must have. Nice lid keeps food fresh.

If you use glass pans for cooking/baking, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to use borosilicate glass. THIS PAN IS SAFE TO USE! The lime glass that other manufacturers use is NOT SAFE - lime glass cannot take the shock of temperature changines, such as from oven to countertop, and a lime glass pan can explode into pieces or shatter - a dangerous situation. It happened to us with another brand pan. OXO is smart to make their pans from borosilicate glass. The plastic lid fits tightly and keeps baked goods fresh and holds moisture inside cooked food in the fridge. Great design and highly recommended!

A safe product to have

Love the product &covers. I bought them because a pyrex pan exploded in our oven. After looking into it learned oxo was the way to go.

Great

A little larger than my broken Pyrex but great with cover.

Seems like a superior pie plate

I just received this but it appears to be really nice. Seem a little thicker and bigger than my pyrex pie plates. Very happy with purchase.

Nice glass baking dish; lid a little brittle

This is a good glass baking dish - nothing special about it but it works fine and the dish itself is sturdy. Clean up is as per usual with glass bakeware - easy unless there is cheese involved 😣😆 I will say the lid is not very strong/sturdy. I have Pyrex glass baking dishes with soft plastic or silicone (not sure) lids and those are much better. This one is hard plastic and is thin, and has already broken a little bit along the edge. It still works, and it is nice to have a lid for one’s baking dish, just could be sturdier if it were silicone or softer flexible plastic, etc. I don’t use this size baker very often but I expect over time the lid will break at some point. I do try to be careful with it, but being thinner hard plastic it undoubtedly has a shelf life.

Lid is NOT Microwavable

The dish is nice enough but, according to the packaging, the lid cannot go in the microwave so it was not suitable for my needs. The product description should make that clear. I returned this item and purchased the Pyrex Easy Grab loaf pan with a lid that can go in the microwave.
