I Own MANY boots, these are amazing.

Let me say first impression I was really impressed. Great quality leather solid sturdy, with a soft form fitting inside. These boots are non slip / oil resistant while still a strong addition to anyone’s style closet. I own boots from Eastland, Aldo, Clark’s, Red Wing, F21 and these Golden Fox boots are quickly going to be one of my top picks. I want to write this review for those who are thinking hard about buying a new boot but don’t want to spend the $300 for iron rangers, or $200 for Thursday boots. These for the price are the excellent Choice. Being $100 is what made me decide. Should they go over I’d be sad. Lol After a day of full wear out and about, these already feel broken in! Very happy. Actually buying a pair for my dad who rides a soft tail. Forgive the pics! I had time tonight and wanted to snap a few before I got too busy to post a review.

Probably the best boots at this price point

I did a lot of searching around, including a lot of wishful thinking regarding Red Wings Heritage boots. I'm glad I landed on these. I used a coupon and got these for around $85 with tax. Initially I went down a half size because other boots sometimes run big. These do not. I returned my 10s and ordered 10.5, just like I wear in every other shoe. That being said, I can tell these boots will take some breaking in. I would say these boots are better suited to be worn as town boots or fashion boots than work boots, but I don't see any reason that they won't hold up well. The leather has an almost suede-like look. The insole is surprisingly supportive and is removable. Edit: one thing that would make these boots better and easier to break in would be speed hooks at the top.

Great value over pricey originals

Out of the box, these boots were extremely high quality! The leather is supple, the stitching is tight and the style fit my wants perfectly. While i admired the look of iron rangers, chippewas and wolverines, I had a hard time justifying the price for what I'll be using as "fashion" or casual boots. These boots are defintely worth the money when compared to cole haans or any other type of glued together crap. These are a true service style boot that i believe will last me a good while. The only caveat to ME is that i wish the sole pattern had slighy aggressive tread for these brutal winters in Detroit. I know these will suck walking through snow and ice BUT thats not why i bought them. These run on the smaller side and i had to size down 1 full size! Here are shoes and sizes in my rotation to give you a better idea of fit. Hopefully it will help someone! Vans: 10.5 Nike: 10.5 Stan smiths: 10.5 Throgood moc toe (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED): 10 Red wing steel toes: 10.5 Clarks original desert boots: 9.5

Solid Goodyear Welted Boots at a Fashion Boot Price

Love these boots for the price! If you are expecting Red Wing quality for a fourth of the price, you will be disappointed. I find them to be an exceptional value for under 100 bucks. Right out of the box they are more comfortable than some high top basketball sneakers I own. Break in won't be an issue (with the suede boots anyway). For me these are versatile boots that can be dressed down with jeans or even business casual with chinos, blazer and tie (what I am wearing in the office as I write this). As far as sizing: I wear a 12D in most every sneaker, in Doc Martens and dress shoes. Thursday boots 11.5, Thorogood boots 11.5 and 11 in Red Wings. I ordered a 12 in these since 11.5 isn't an option and they fit great. I do like to wear thicker wool socks with boot and prefer a little room in the toe box. If there was an 11.5 option, I would have still chosen the 12. At any rate, these are hard to beat for the price. I will get a smooth leather pair soon, before word gets out and these start carrying a higher price.

Fantastic boots and incredible value.

Short version: 5 stars. Amazing boots. Extremely high quality. Very comfortable. Worth twice the price at least. Long review: I bought these as a replacement for a pair of Chippewa / J. Crew Service Boots in Sunset Renegade. I had wanted a pair of Goodyear Welted boots for a long time, but most of them are flatly out of my price range. I kept my eyes peeled for a pair of Red Wing Blacksmiths, Chippewa Service Boots or Wolverine 1000 miles or Kilometers on sale and eventually found a pair of BNIB Chippewa / J. Crews in my size on eBay and pulled the trigger. The leather on both boots suffered from horrible cracking from the moment I first put them on, but the right boot was the worse of the two and the cracking is absolutely atrocious. I know I gambled not buying them direct and got burned. Aside from the poor clicking, the quality control just was not up to par elsewhere either - there were several uneven stitches, one of the tongues was very crooked, things of that nature. Overall, the construction was not very precise. These Golden Fox Boondockers (Fudge) are absolutely amazing. They are both higher quality and better looking than the pictures online show. Pictures do not do them justice. The leather is GORGEOUS in person. It is a little thinner and softer than the leather on my Chip's, similar to the leather on my Wolverine Kilometers. All of the stitching and lines are precise and even. They are heavier than I was expecting but also much more comfortable. The insole is ... Read More

Golden Fox Boondockers: Ever bit as good or better than the more expensive brands!

These are great boots in every way! They are comfortable and every bit as good in quality as the more expensive Red Wings, Chippewas, LL Beans, or any other brand that is out there. The fit is perfect, and I recommend that you order your regular show size. There is no need to go bigger or smaller in size!! The toe box, width, and arch support are perfect. The price is another great attraction, being only a fraction of the price of the more costly brands, which offer no advantage over Golden Fox for the extra money that you will have to spend. Do yourself a favor and purchase Golden Fox boots, you will have an excellent, quality pair of boots that you will not be disappointed with!

My Everyday Workweek Shoe

So we'll get the elephant in the room kind of thing out of the way up front. Are these particularly competitive with Red WIng Heritage or any of the other $300+ service boots out there? I mean, sure, I guess they aren't but you know what I about them. The footbed is actually comfortable out of the box. I need a significant amount of arch support, and the "bubble" many reviewers criticize? First, ended up being a selling point for me, and second, it's not that prominent for very long anyway. By the time your toes have broken in the toebox, the bubble will also likely be flattened enough you don't mind. Otherwise, they're great. Color is good, leather is perfectly fine and unless you genuinely know leather, this will probably be true for you as well. And if you do know leather and care, you were probably never going to buy these (but you probably should). Goodyear welt was something of a selling point because it'd be nice to have a shoe last awhile, and I suspect that at this price point the sensibility of doing that might not exist, depending on the construction, but in the meantime it's quality enough my feet are unless I step full on into water. With wool socks, they're comfortable enough for most winter days if you aren't taking an alpine excursion or something. I don't know that I have any particular complaints. Crepe sole obviously will wear a little faster than other soles would, but on the bright side it's quiet and a little more comfortable. Some more color options w... Read More

NOT Red Wings. More like Docs.

Great boots for the money, bottom line. Crepe sole kind of unique, makes for more cushy step. Just to clear up some buzz about these boots... You hear a lot of people comparing these too much higher end boots, iron rangers for example. While these do fit in the service boot category, they are more akin to classic Dr. Martens. Nowhere near as structured or stiff as boots like Chippewa or Red Wings. Or durable, I'm sure. That said, great boots. I don't think there's a better deal for your money.

A great boot doesn't have to cost $400 !

A very nice boot at an attractive price. Maybe you don't always get what you pay for. This boot proves the exception. I'ts no Red Wing but it's a very good boot at 1/2 to 1/4 the price. No it won't last for a decade but really who keeps boots that long. Very nicely made with real leather and much lighter than many others. Personally I would rather wear this boot than many Heritage style boots I've had especially if I was going to wear it all day long. The sole is great when working in back yards or gardens as it minimizes what you'll track into the house and it's slightly springy making walking a breeze. I will buy more boots from Golden Fox if they are all built like this one.
