Reviews for Eyeshadow Primer

People say Milani is really similar to Too Faced.

The best of the best!

I have been using this since 2015 and it NEVER fails me! I used to do lots of eyeshadow looks every single day, and not once did it fail me. I would wear it through an 11 hour shift at a grocery store and my eyeshadow was solid! A little can go a long ways, so I always use about a grain of rice-sized amount total. It can get a little dry, so it might make your eyelids look a little crunchy if you use too much. It also kept most of the red pigmented eyeshadow I wore from severely staining my eyelids. It is pretty grippy, so blending out your colors might take a little more effort, but it will blend! Also, this is a tip for those of you who wear glasses and foundation: put this where your glasses sit! Do this over your foundation (just a little) and your glasses will not wipe your foundation off! The best thing I ever discovered when I used to wear heavy foundation for 12+ hours. You can't beat the price! Milani will always be my go-to for primer.

Excellent

I use just a bit and spread it around the lid and brow bone. It works wonderfully! Not oily at all (unless you use too much I'd imagine.) Blending is a breeze, and I noticed a HUGE difference in the staying power of my shadow in contrast to using no primer.

Just what I needed

Lately my eyeshadow has been moving which was previously a nonissue. I took the advice of many you tubers including Emily Noel and bought this one. They did not steer me wrong. I can wear my eyeshadow again without it sliding and sticking in my creases.

Drugstore Gem!

The first time I got this it just came with a Milani eyeshadow palette in a Christmas set--I only got it for the palette, but I ended up loving this primer, too! I use it every time I do my makeup, and it works super well for me. When I don't use a primer, I deal with a lot of creasing and a lot of shadow transfer because I have eyelids that are both hooded and oily (even though I have dry skin everywhere else). I'm almost out of my first tube, and I didn't even think about getting a different brand's primer when I know this one does such a great job and is inexpensive! 10/10!

Long lasting and perfect tint!

I love using this product all over my face to give my canvas a base. Very blendable and buildable and no weird smell. Thin product and lightly tinted, no need to use too much. I wish it came is bigger amounts!

LOVE IT

I have extremely oily Eyelid. bought too many primers before, it didn't have any effect. My eyeliner always ends up fading and smudging my eyelids the second I sweat. but with this primer, the eyeliner stays the whole day. while working, going outside under the suns. definitely will buy over and over again.

Withstood Sweating and Skateboarding

No complaints about this primer honestly, so I only have good things to list out. While I can't vouch for people with oily eyelids, I can vouch for people who sweat a lot. When I first got it, I tested its wearability with my eyeshadow and eyeliner then went out to skate. An hour of intense skating around the park while wearing a mask under 90F degree weather later, I was happy to find that my eyeshadow and liner were as I left them when I left the house. This eyeshadow primer has the same amount of product as the cult-favorite Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer and performs just as well, so a recommendable dupe! For people who want a clear primer rather than one with coverage, this is amazing. A small amount goes a long way, and eyeshadows blend so nice and smooth with it. Not to mention that the eyeshadow goes on pigmented too.

Better than brand name!!

I would always use the TF eye primer because I seemed to always get it as a sample or part of a goody bag. It didn't work too well, and I was like meh what do I know? Then I tried this and ohhhh my goodness. The eyeshadow will stay ON!!

Amazing product. Love it. Better than the good faced eyeshadow primer. Love the price.

Better than any prestige brand primer

I have hooded eyes, which means that eyeshadow almost always creases on me. I've spent the past year trying different high-end primers (Nars, ABH, Too Faced, Urban Decay) and all of them have creased on me or been inconsistent. So far this Milani primer has been everything that I was missing. Shadows stay pigmented and, most importantly, DON'T CREASE BY THE END OF THE DAY. Suffice to say, sometimes dugstore brands are better.

BEST. PRIMER. EVER.

I wore this primer at my going away party and let me tell ya. I was blackout drunk and this primer lasted through me rolling on the ground like the chef boyardee can, throwing up and face planing in the grass and falling asleep face down with my makeup on at the end of the night. Woke up and my eyeshadow did not move. I even took a video to send to my friends and prove it. 1000% get this primer.

Best drug store eye primer

I'm getting into the beauty world slowly now that I have free time on my hand and just bought my first large eye shadow pallet and I knew I needed a good primer, but didn't have the money to spend on something high end. I read this was a great dupe for urban decay and read a lot of reviews before getting it and maaaaan am I so happy I bought this. I may never go high end. The color pigmentation is beautiful and and really pops, every single shade. IT DOES NOT FADE! I'm serious. One night I got too lazy (drunk) to take off my eye makeup and slept with it on, woke up in the morning and it still look AMAZING, did not look like it faded/come off at all. Almost exactly how it looked when I first applied it 12+ hours. My only con is that it is a little tough to blend shadow out sometime, but maybe that's eye primer in general? I technically never own eye primer before and used to use concealer instead before and it blended out a little easier. But it just shows that it really does stick and last a long time so it worth the extra effort. I'll probably never buy any other drug store primer if this exists. Maybe I'll get high end one day, but I'm really really happy with this and the price makes it even better. GET IT, especially if your new to the makeup world like me.

BUYYY ITTT

This is the first ever eyeshadow primer I have bought as I am a beginner. First I applied with my finger. Then I go over with some powder or nude eyeshadow to make it not too sticky. Then eyeshadow. At school I have dance and gym and my eyeshadow stayed on the whole day! Also cheaper than other option. Please buy! 😊

My new fave

I used to love the urban decay primer, but I needed to find a primer that was a little more wallet friendly. I saw this on sale and noticed it had pretty good reviews and thought I'd give it a chance. This is my new fave primer. I have super oily lids and this works SO MUCH BETTER than the urban decay primer. And the price tag helps too. I'll definitely be repurchasing this again.

Smooth & lasting application

I've tried Ulta's matte eyeshadow primer, the NYX primer, as well as the urban decay primer. Although those are bad choices, the nude matte primer from both ulta and urban decay were almost too dry, leaving a dry look on my lids. The NYX was translucent (clear) but dried to a sticky consistency. The MILANI is the ultimate and best primer I have used thus far. Does not try sticky, but smooth and is clear. Lasts too! Please try it!

Perfect!

Worried that this would be too dark once I got it. It goes on translucent. I have really oily eyelids, mascara smears on me all the time no matter what. I wear this on its own to stop the smearing.

Won't use any other..EVER!

Not only is the price for this stuff a dream, so is this eye shadow primer! The application is smooth and easy, still is when it dries. It lasts all day and night. I went to an outdoor wedding. In the South. When it was still hot and humid outside too. My eye make up didn't budge, smear or melt. NO touch-ups. I won't use any other eye primer!

LOVE THIS STUFF!!!

I have tried so many other eye shadow primers, and they just don't seem to work, even the Shadow Insurance by Too Faced and the Primer Potion from Urban Decay that everyone else seems to stand by. I'd apply my eye shadow and a couple of hours later, I could see creasing and by the end of the day, it was as if I hadn't used any primer! Maybe it's my lids, I dunno. Anyway, I tried this one because I saw a good review on YouTube and am very happy with it. It doesn't take long to dry, and it holds my shadow in place all day. AND it's cheap! I'm very happy with this one.

Good/Similar

This product reminds me of the too faced eye primer, its tinted and creates the same soft smooth base for eye shadow. I like it because it also brings out the shadow more, especially if its a shimmer or metallic shade .

Love this!

This is really the best drug store eyelid primer that you can get. it really lasts all day and night no matter how active you are. i havent found a primer as good as this. i would def compare it to the urban decay one too.

Yes, again

This is a repeat purchase for me. It is my go to eye primer. Wears all day and keeps my eye shadow looking great. I wear this under my eyes also and it keeps my concealer looking good, too. Great product.

Better Than High End Brands

I've used Tarte, Kat Von D, Too Faced, Smashbox, Pur...etc etc and they all crease about 6 hours in, even setting with powder. THIS DOES NOT CREASE. Even 12 hours +, it stays put. Plus you save like $15-$35 by not buying high end. This is now my go to eye primer!!!

Great base

I love this primer for my eyeshadow! It doesn't crease and isn't too thick.

Overall good

This primer helps make shadow more vibrant, but it creases a little more than I'd like. It is super light weight to me, a bit hard to spread. Not too greasy or dry. Only a little tacky.

Great and Affordable

I have used eyeshadow primers in the past, but felt they didn't do too much to help with makeup. This, however, has changed my mind. I've used this primer with both drugstore and high end shadows and it definitely makes a difference!!! My eyeshadow really lasts longer on top of this base. High end shadows look exactly the same at the end of the day as when they were first applied. Drugstore eyeshadows still may move around, especially into the crease, but last so much longer and still look good. A little goes a long way, so this will definitely last you a long time. My only complaint would be that application on top of this isn't too smooth, I have to wait a minute before applying shadow on this otherwise I get "stuck". Overall, a great buy!
